AlteaLocation: In the Marina Baixa region, the city of Altea opens up to the sea from one of the most beautiful bays on the Mediterranean coast. On the top of a hill, protected from cold winds by the mountains behind, this place has all the charm of a Mediterranean coast village. Altea is located 10 km from Benidorm, 50 km from Alicante and 120 km from Valencia.

By road: The connections by road with Altea is the Mediterranean motorway A-7, exit (salida) 65. The main road N-332 connects Altea with Alicante and Valencia. You can get more information about roads at Dirección General de Tráfico.

By rail: The train only gets to Alicante, from here there are regular bus lines to Altea. The narrow railway between Denia and Alicante connects with the coastal villages of Costa Blanca. By air: The nearest airport is located in El Altet (Alicante), approximately 60 km from Altea. Another alternative is the Manises airport in Valencia, 130 km. away. Leisure

Monuments and places of interest: The Vellaguarda quarter, the old quarter, the church Virgin del Consuelo, the city council and the Navarro Ramón museum. For more information click here.

Beaches: Altea has a 6 kilometre beach, with cliffs alternating with shingled bathing areas. Playa de la Roda is located adjacent to the town centre. The main beach, Playa de Cap Blanch, is located to the south and runs into Albir's beach. The Playa de Cap Negret, a shingled beach ending in a small cove with black pebbles called the "Cala del Soio", is located to the north. L´Olla is another frequented beach opposite a small island of the same name. The beaches of Altea end in the "Mascarat point" and the Sierra de Bernia, where the La Barreta, La Solsida and La Galera shingled coves are located. For more information, click, click here.

AlteaGastronomy: The sea culture is the basis of a rich gastronomy in which rice, fish and shellfish play a leading part. You can enjoy dishes like "suquet de peix", "caracols amb ceba", "cruet de peix", sea urchin, "coca a la lluma", and a rich variety of rise dishes. Festivities: Easter, festivities of San Juan (23th and 30th of June), Mare de Deu del Carmen (16th of July), Castell de l´Olla (pyrotechnic festival from 12th-14th of August), Moors and Christians in honour of San Blas and Santisimo Cristo del Sagrario (last week of September) and local festivities (7th-19th of October).
