Property values in towns that are serviced by Spain's high-speed rail network are above the national average, new figures have revealed.
According to Kyero.com, house prices in places such as Malaga and Seville are almost a quarter above the norm for Spain as a whole, reports Homes Worldwide.
This has been attributed to the fact that both places are serviced by AVE, the country's high-speed rail service.
Since towns and cities which are served by the network offer quick transport links with other regions, this is made them more desirable to prospective homebuyers.
As a result, house prices in some of these areas are nearly 25 per cent higher than the countrywide average.
Martin Dell, spokesperson for Kyero.com, said: "As more AVE stations come into operation, it will be interesting to see how this affects property prices in other towns."
High-speed AVE lines now connect many of Spain's major cities, including Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Sevilla.
Launched in December, the Madrid-Malaga service means that passengers from the capital can reach the Costa del Sol in just two hours and 30 minutes.
