Potential expats told to look at finances

08 April 2008

People who are planning to retire to countries such as Spain have been advised to consider various financial issues before moving.

The Sun newspaper said British nationals are currently entitled to live in any member of the European Union.

However, it stated that expatriates still need to take various matters into account before they pack their bags and head out of the country.

For example, the Sun recommended that retirees look at how they plan to generate their future income and whether any income will cease after they move.

Furthermore, expatriates were encouraged to look at issues such as how inflation in the UK and their new country of residence will affect their finances.

The Sun commented: "Research and planning are essential when deciding whether you have the cash and resources to take such a big step."

This comes shortly after Spain was praised by NuBricks.com for offering a lower cost of living than the UK.
