Britons who are thinking of setting up home overseas have been advised to consider their finances.
Jason Hemmings, a director at Albannach Financial Management, said many people want to move abroad in order to improve their quality of life.
Speaking to the Daily Record, he said the UK has become a nation of hard-working individuals who work long hours.
As a result, people want to enjoy a better work-life balance, ideally in a place which offers a more laidback lifestyle.
However, Mr Hemmings has warned that people need to take their financial status into account before committing to any move.
He commented: "You've got to plan well in advance.
"Get your financial house in order, and with a little thought, you can make [your dream] come true."
Mr Hemmings added that people who are planning a move should put an action plan into place.
According to the Office for National Statistics, Spain is currently one of the most popular destinations for British expatriates.
