Malaga is continuing to attract holidaymakers from across Europe, new figures have revealed.
According to the Costa del Sol Hotelier's Association, hotels in the province recorded a 65.5 per cent occupancy rate last month, reports Event Planner Spain.
This figure, which is three per cent up on industry estimates, works out to more than 1.5 million overnight stays during May 2008.
More than one in three visitors in this period were found to hail from the UK, making them the largest proportion of foreign visitors last month.
Meanwhile, figures showed that Malaga was also very popular with leisure travellers from places such as Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
In addition, the Spanish province attracted tourists from Belgium, Italy and Scandinavia.
According to government data, more than 15 million people took a holiday in Spain between January and April 2008, reports the Typically Spanish website.
