The Costa del Sol's status as one of Europe's premier golfing locations has been confirmed by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation.
A new report from the organisation states that the La Cala development in Mijas, near Malaga, is officially the largest golf resort in the country for the third year running, while Andalucia continues to boast more golf clubs than any other area in Spain.
The region now has 93 different clubs and is increasingly recognised among sport enthusiasts as a "major golf destination" and an area which offers "world class facilities" for golfers, according to Euroweeklynews.com.
Both the Mayor of Mijas and the Andalucian Golf Federation stated how the region's golf resorts continue to attract visitors and promote economic growth on the Costa del Sol, with both holidaymakers and property owners eager to try their skills on the famous greens.
Mijas is a short journey down the coast from Malaga and Velez-Malaga.
Spanish golf legend Seve Ballesteros announced his retirement from the sport last year. The former World No.1 was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1997, along with the English player Nick Faldo.
