Britons could find 'better value overseas'

11 June 2008

Britons could find they make their finances stretch further by moving abroad, according to a property expert.

The number of Britons choosing to emigrate has been climbing in recent years, with Spain among the most popular destinations with expats.

Paul Collins of property advice website BuyAssociation predicted that the number of Britons looking at relocating overseas would grow as more people feel their finances tightening as a result of the current climate of economic uncertainty.

That will make people realise they can get better value for money in other countries, he continued.

"The cost of living is often quite a bit cheaper overseas - the UK is notoriously quite an expensive place to live," Mr Collins added.

A recent study conducted by property website Rightmove Overseas revealed Spain is the most popular destination among Britons who plan to buy overseas, ahead of France, the US, Italy and Portugal.ADNFCR-1239-ID-18634815-ADNFCR
